CROSS COUNTRY

Jim Ortiz is one of the great Ortiz brothers from Basrtow, Jim ran a 14.53 at Mt. Sac in 1983. He ran for legendary UCLA distance coach Bob Larsen and was one of the top distance runners in the late 1980's. He served as team captaion for the UCLA cross country team and still holds the Ucla vs. USC dual meet steeplechase record, 8:53.61. Coach Ortiz has previously coached at Santa Paula H.S. and Barstow H.S. and now he has returned to Saint Bonaventure. He brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the Athletic program.
