FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE

Welcome!

St. Bonaventure High School seeks to make Catholic education affordable for all families who desire it.  We take our responsibility as a private Catholic high school seriously, and we endeavor to assist all families who require financial support to attend St. Bonaventure.

Tuition & Financial Aid

Being a Catholic institution that operates without state funding, Saint Bonaventure High School operates on a tuition-dependent model, relying exclusively on tuition and associated fees to sustain its annual operational budget. Notably, the expense of providing education to a single student surpasses the prevailing tuition rate by approximately $1,300. To bridge this gap, Saint Bonaventure actively counts on the involvement of parents and volunteers to mitigate the disparity. While there exists no obligatory fundraising obligation, families are mandated to contribute 25 hours of service per year.

What is the tuition at SBHS?
The tuition fee for the academic year 2023-2024 amounts to $10,900 per student. The payment structure entails monthly installments of $990.91 over an 11-month period. Notably, the annual tuition cost experiences an incremental rise of approximately 4-5% annually.

How are tuition payments handled?
Saint Bonaventure employs the services of FACTS Tuition Management, a dedicated tuition management company, to oversee the processing of all tuition payments. The customary procedure involves a structured 11-month payment schedule, commencing in July ahead of the upcoming school year's commencement.

What other fees or costs can we expect to pay?

  • There is a non-refundable admissions application fee of $100.00 for all prospective students (new incoming 9th and transfer).
  • All students are required to have an iPad device for school. Specific iPad requirements can be located on our school website.
  • Families are required to purchase digital textbooks for their child. The approximate total cost for books ranges from $225-$275.
  • The registration fee for all students that have received an admissions acceptance is $600 which will be due at the time of registration (this fee is non-refundable) to secure their spot.
  • There is a $100.00 yearbook fee (purchasing the yearbook is optional).
  • Each sports team has a “Spirit Pack Fee” ranging from $50.00 to $500.00.
  • Uniform polo shirts are approximately $20 each and sweatshirts approximately $35 each. Pants/ slacks and shorts may be purchased through Dennis Uniform Co. or one of the local chain stores. Polo shirts and sweatshirts may also be purchased through Proforma. Items sold by Proforma can be viewed by visiting the online store via the school website.

The Final decision for receiving the scholarship rests with the Principal of St. Bonaventure High School in consultation with her advisory board, and/or the families involved with the scholarship.

Catholic Education Foundation

CEF’s mission is to provide tuition assistance to families meeting specific income parameters. CEF is managed by the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. For students who meet the eligibility guidelines, follow the instructions to complete the application, and attach the 1040 2022, and bring it to the administartion office. Feel free to contact Mr. Frantela should you have any questions or need some assistance at sfrantela@sbhsvta.org.

Educator, leader, servant, with a vision that so easily crinkles into a smile, an eye that twinkles with friendliness, and a lilting Irish accent-his devotion and dedication to Saint Bonaventure for over 28 years best describes Brother Paul. Brother Paul came to Saint Bonaventure in 1979 as a math and science teacher and became principal in 1986. With a passion for education he states that "it is most vital to generate in each student a love of learning so... that each person becomes a life-long learner." In addition to physical additions to the campus, Brother Paul expanded the array of classes offered and the addition of advanced placement classes. The student body increased during his tenure. Brother Paul possesses a heartfelt respect for the students and states, "Looking back over the years, I constantly was reminded that each student is a unique and special creation with distinct, God-given gifts and talents."
